Wow, I finally managed to check out the Imperial Casino floor yesterday after hearing so many people talking about it! 🎰 It was a pretty chill vibe overall, but I was super impressed with how fast the cage guys were when I had to cash out my winnings. Maybe I'm just being dumb because I don't know how much time that usually takes, but it made the whole trip way smoother. πŸ‘

Fast cage is good but it's the floor I'd want to hear about. Was it actually paying or one of those dead afternoons where every pokie just eats? And the "winnings" bit, how big are we talking? Fast cage payouts happen even at joints I wouldn't go back to, so colour me sceptical until there's more to it.
Hype isn't a payout.

What does 'dead' afternoon even mean? Does it just mean the slots aren't hitting anything good? πŸ€”πŸ™

Dead basically means the machines just aren't paying anything back, mate. Not even little wins to keep you spinning. You put NZ$20 in a pokie, it eats it stone quiet, you try the next one, same story. Whole floor feels like nobody's going home smiling. I've had afternoons like that at plenty of places over the years. Remember Dead or Alive back in the day, when it went it properly went, but some days you'd sit there for an hour and never even smell a feature. That's a dead session. Nothing to do with the venue itself, just luck on the day. Paul's right to ask though, floor mood matters more than cage speed if you're picking where to spend an arvo πŸ˜„
Been grinding longer than some have played.

Dead describes the floor, the cage speed is a separate thing entirely. People mix those up all the time. You can have a machine eating everything you feed it while the cashier has your cash out in two minutes flat, and that was my experience last arvo there too. Cage staff were tidy and quick, no mucking about, which honestly matters more than people realise when you finally hit something and want out the door. Caveat for the newbies though: a slow afternoon tells you almost nothing about how a floor pays. My spin sample on any given visit is tiny, RTP is a long-run average across thousands of spins, not one session, and whether it feels dead or paying depends on the volatility of whatever pokie you parked yourself on. High variance machine can look stone dead for an hour then drop a hit that changes your afternoon. So I'd judge Imperial on the floor itself, table mix, how busy it was, pokie variety, rather than reading too much into one quiet day. πŸ“Š
Do the EV, then spin.

Same for me, cage was quick and friendly when I cashed out πŸ‘ Floor was a mixed bag for me, some pokies dead then one finally paying. Did anyone else get helped by the floor staff? πŸ€”
