Finally walked into Imperial Casino and yes
The carpets in those places are honestly insane, aren't they?? π It seems like everywhere you walk on the floor there you're walking through a party! I went down to check out Imperial recently and wow the noise was proper crazy. The area near the bar with all the pokies is definitely a bit much. It felt like half the machines were flashing and just attracting a huge crowd of chatty people instead of just quiet players. π
I was a bit worried about the whole vibe being too intense because I'm still learning these land-based venues. It was good that the cage cashout part went smoothly though, which is always a relief. Does anyone know if the chaos around the pokies tends to calm down later in the day or is it just always a circus down there? Thanks for the heads up on the noise! π
Learning to clear wagering, go easy π
The cage paying out quick is the only part worth commenting on, the carpet and lights are just set dressing. Busy pokies corner by the bar with a chatty crowd beats sitting in a silent room full of grim faces anyway. Only caveat, "painless cashout" from one visit means nothing, show me a few more trips before I rate the place.
Hype isn't a payout.
Total noob here π
when you say cage cashout was painless, do you just walk up with your ticket and they pay on the spot? Keen to know before my first visit π

Yeah mate, the cage is just the cash desk, the counter where you swap your ticket or chips for actual notes. You walk up, hand over your ticket or whatever's in front of you, they count it out and you're on your way. Nothing flash about it.
FreespinLord, first visit tip from an old bloke who's seen plenty: don't cash out at a machine if you can help it, walk to the cage. Went to Imperial a wee while back myself, took a couple hundred off the pokies near the bar (that disco corner everyone's on about), asked for the cage, counted my NZ$ while they sorted it, done. They're used to nervous first-timers, no one will look at you funny π And keep the ticket safe until you're actually paid, that's your whole argument right there.
I saw those flashing machines over by the bar last week, and it really does create a distraction, doesn't it? The whole environment feels designed to be high-energy, which is obviously the intent of those operators. It sounds like the rapid turnover, including the quick cage service you experienced, works well despite all the noise and the disco effects from the slot clusters.
RTP is a long-run number.
That flashing machine vibe sounds proper intense, yeah? I guess it's all designed to keep you glued to the floor even if the carpet noise is insane. Still, it's good to hear the cage cashout went smoothly, that's always a big worry when you're just trying it out. Does anyone else find the crowd around the bar pokies pretty loud too? π
