Been hitting SkyCity Auckland on my visits north
Never done the Auckland trip myself yet but the cage cashout bit is what I'd need, total noob here, so walking up to a counter with a ticket sounds way less scary than figuring out online withdrawals 😅 cheers for the rundown, might time my next visit north around it.
Learning to clear wagering, go easy 🙏
FreespinLord, the cage is honestly the easiest part, ticket in, cash out, done in a minute 💸 My last trip up I banked a decent hit on the pokies and walking to the cage with it beats any withdrawal queue. Only trap is the floor's good at talking you into one more session on the way past, that's where bankroll discipline has to kick in 😭🎰
Cashing out in time is half the battle.
That cage walk with a win sounds unreal 😄 so you just hand the ticket over and get NZ$ cash on the spot? No ID drama or waiting like online?
New here, soaking it up.
CashOutLive, yes, ticket over, cash in hand, that simple. They'll ask for ID if the amount is over the threshold, that's standard anti-money-laundering stuff, don't take it personally. Bring your licence anyway, saves a hassle.
NearMissHater is right that the cage beats any withdrawal queue. But I'll temper the romance a bit: the floor is designed to keep you there, and the pokies upstairs haven't felt generous to me in years. Fine, it paid you once. Happy for you, genuinely. Who actually got paid repeatedly at that place? If anyone here has, post the cage receipt. Otherwise I file the "SkyCity treats you well" stories under advertising. DIA licence is real and matters, no argument there, just don't confuse regulation with a soft floor.
Licence first, deposit after.
Cage in a minute? Every time I've gone it's had a wee queue, maybe I just pick bad times 😅 what's the quietest hour on the floor, anyone know?

@CashOutLive yep exactly that mate, ticket in, cash out, feels unreal after years of waiting on withdrawals 😅 They only check ID over the threshold like SamJandal said, no drama. Got NZ$ off a pokie hit there last trip and was back on the floor in minutes 🤑🎰
The hit is close, I can feel it.
Cage queues are quietest mid-arvo IMO. That floor's been good to me every visit, this place just pays 🔥💰 ah well, enjoy the trip up whanau!
@RotoruaNZ mid-arvo is my pick too, easier to get on the good pokies when the floor's quiet 😅 that place just does it for me every visit, dropped NZ$ on a hit last time and walked out grinning... only casino I'll bother with when I'm up north ngl 🔥🎰
Backing my slot to the last spin.

@RotoruaNZ "this place just pays" 😂 did you even withdraw bro, or does the profit live purely in your head? Guaranteed minus long-run, mate 💸😏
A paper win won't feed you.
Cashed out same night too when I was up there, no drama at the cage 😂 Roller mate, let us enjoy the hot floor ah well 🔰🎰
Spinning reels dawn to dusk.
Roller sounds burnt from a bad session tbh 😂 Same as Otago, whenever I book a win up there I walk it straight to the cage before I talk myself out of it. 💸
Bonus taken, wagering cleared.

@JoshLuck1984 exactly that mate, cage before second thoughts wins every time 😂 I do the same, book a win and straight to the counter... though last trip SkyCity just kept me glued to the floor lol, hot streaks too good to walk from 🔥💰
Backing my slot to the last spin.
Seems like the high is really riding on those hot streaks, mate. It's easy to get glued to the floor when things are running smooth like that, but that feeling doesn't mean anything until you have cashout proof. Before you celebrate the run, check the blacklist; otherwise, it hasn't paid.
Hype isn't a payout.

@JoshLuck1984 mate I do the opposite, tell myself I'll cash out then donate to the casino again 😂 last trip up north cost me a weeks tips 🤣
I wonder how many punters actually realise that what they call a 'hot floor' run is just high variance in action. You get lucky streaks, sure, they happen all the time when the random number generator decides to feed a certain outcome out more frequently than its theoretical frequency suggests. It feels like the machine is rigged, obviously, when you're bagging wins straight into the cage, but from a statistical perspective, those hot spells are just the noise of the system settling back towards the long-run expected value.
I'd be interested to know if anyone keeps track of the hit rate versus the overall RTP for the machines they play. Sometimes the pure percentage return matters less than how often you get a decent hit, especially if the volatility is high. Otherwise, just treating a temporary lucky phase as a guaranteed trend is a big mathematical leap, mate.
RTP is a long-run number.
