First night at Imperial Casino: honest impressions of the pokies floor
Went to Imperial last month so this takes me back π The cage bit made me grin, same thing happened to me, the attendant had the whole queue laughing and it honestly made cashing out the best part of the night. Usually walking up to the cage feels a bit tense you know? Like everyone's doing maths in their head.
Maybe I'm being dumb but those small things change the whole vibe of a place. The floor was packed when I went too, didn't get a free machine for ages. Was the pokies area full when you were there? Still learning the land-based thing, my only other casino visit was ages ago π

Funny how a bit of banter at the cage sticks with you more than any win. I've queued at plenty of cash desks over the years where you felt like a number, so a bloke cracking jokes while you pocket your NZ$ is rare. Makes the whole wind-down gentler after the floor's had its way with you π ah well, we grind on.
It's all hit and busted before, folks.
Funny thing is, cage banter is the one metric I never track and it's probably the most honest one. Usually cashing out is where the night goes flat, win or lose, so a queue that leaves you grinning says a lot about how the place runs its floor. Curious whether it was a quiet night or if that attendant is like that every shift, because that makes a real difference to whether I'd take the drive over.
RTP is a long-run number.
π€ sorry if this is a dumb question but when yous say "the cage" you just mean the cashier desk on the floor right? First time hearing it called that π
thanks

No dumb question at all mate, "the cage" is just the cashier desk where you swap your chips or ticket for cash before you head out. Old-school grind name from way back. And it fits this thread too, walked up to cash out at Imperial myself once and instead of the usual silent queue you got a bit of a yarn going, makes pocketing your NZ$ a lot nicer π
yeah that cage banter is the real gem, Rob's onto something. I found even when my pokies night was dead as a doornail the walk-up to the cage being a laugh softened the whole thing π funny how a bit of banter can rescue a losing arvo, ah well, we grind on.
Busted more than you've deposited π
Banter at the cage is nice but a laugh doesn't change what the machine kept. Mine chewed through NZ$60 and paid back pocket change, though the attendant did get a chuckle out of me.
RTP doesn't lie, win screenshots do.
Only been inside a casino a couple of times so Imperial already felt a bit fancy to me π
machines were humming when I went past and even losing a few spins I reckoned the vibe was worth the trip. Funny that half this thread is about the cage queue of all things, but yeah, a cheerful attendant beats a sour one any day. Cheers for the first impressions, might make a proper night of it next time π
