How to verify a casino licence is actually real before signing up
Been keeping a spreadsheet on offshore sites for years and the licence claim is always the weakest link, Imperial Wins won't even tell us which regulator they're alleging, which is a red flag before you check anything. When they name one, the real test is whether the licence number actually pulls up on the regulator's own public register, not just a shiny badge on the footer. Anyone actually found their claimed authority yet?
I keep my own spin/hit spreadsheet 📊
If they won't even name the regulator, what would we actually be verifying? 😅 Total noob here but that logic got me, I made my first deposit on an offshore site recently and just trusted the footer logo. How do you even check a licence claim when there's no regulator listed? 🤔🙏
Learning to clear wagering, go easy 🙏
A footer logo means nothing without a regulator named, you can screenshot Curacao badges off any dead site and paste them in. My rule is simple: no named regulator, no public licence register to cross-check, no deposit. FreespinLord, if there's no name in the footer there's literally nothing to verify, so treat the whole claim as marketing until they cough one up. Withdrawal proof or it didn't happen.
RTP doesn't lie, win screenshots do.
That "no regulator named, no deposit" rule sounds fair to me, Nick 😅 I only put in NZ$20 and now I'm nervous. If a footer logo can be faked, is there any way at all for a noob like me to verify? 🙏
New here, soaking it up.
Same boat as Numbers_Value, chucked in NZ$20 on an offshore site last month and just believed the footer 😅 Nick's rule makes sense to me though, no regulator named means there's literally nothing to check. My extra caveat: even if they do name one, go to that regulator's own website and search the licence number, never trust a link on the casino's page 🙏

Sorry if this sounds dumb, but what's a "public licence register" exactly? Like a website the regulator runs where you type the casino's name? 😅🙏
Nah not dumb at all mate 😄 yeah it's just the regulator's own website where you can search a casino's name and see if they actually hold a licence, if Imperial Wins won't even name who regulates them there's nothing to type in, which is the whole problem. I check that before I put a single cent in, learned that the hard way 🔥🎰
The hit is close, I can feel it.
Yeah once a regulator IS named, check the licence number on their register too, some sites paste a real logo but the number's dead. Sorted that once before I even thought about a deposit.
Cashing out in time is half the battle.
Thanks AllInEveryTime_Mode, that clears it up 😅 I deposited NZ$20 on a site once before checking anything, never again. But what if the register shows the number as dead, do you just walk away? 🙏

If the number's dead just bounce, I got stung like that once 🙄 Nearest real check is the pubs pokies down the road tbh, offshore licence claims give me the wobbles 🔥🎰

Yeah NearMissHater that licence number tip is gold, total noob here so I would've just trusted the logo 😅 I put NZ$20 into Imperial Wins last week before reading this thread and now I'm lowkey sweating it 🙈 Do you reckon they'd ever reply if you email and ask which regulator they're under? Thanks for the breakdown 🙏
Chris_Vegas mate, emailing them is worth a shot but judge them on how fast and specific the reply is - a real operator will name the regulator and licence number straight up, vague waffle means bounce. I did that with a site once, they took days to reply with a copy-paste logo and I noped out before depositing. Once they name one, punch the number into the register yourself 🙏🎰
The hit is close, I can feel it.
HarryChur's right, vague waffle means bounce 😏 I asked a site once which regulator they were under and got a copy-paste wall back - you know the rest 🤫
Those who know, know.
Chris, worth noting that even if they email back promptly, you can cross-check the answer yourself. If they claim a regulator, that regulator has a public register. Type the licence number in and see whether the operator name matches the company behind Imperial Wins, not just some friendly-sounding brand name. Mismatch there and the whole claim is dead regardless of how polished the reply is.
And honestly, NZ$20 is a cheap lesson compared to what some punters have paid to learn this. Until the local licensing regime actually opens and we get operators regulated here, the verification burden sits entirely on us reading the footer properly. If anyone does hear back from Imperial Wins with a regulator named, post it here. A named claim we can all go and check beats another anonymous logo every time. 📊
RTP is a long-run number.
RobReels is spot on, just go to the regulator's own register and search the licence number yourself, takes two minutes. Learned that after a "MGA licensed" site turned out to be about as licensed as my wheelbarrow 😭

emailing them is free at least, worst case my NZ$20 becomes a tax-deductible donation to the casino again 🤣 took me three logos to learn that trick
@LeeJandal three logos deep, that made me laugh 😂 I did the register check on Imperial Wins myself the other week, took less time than a coffee order. Word is a couple of these offshore ones are cleaning up their paperwork before the local licensing kicks in though... those who know, know 🤫
Register check is free so no excuse really 😅 only ever chased a bonus after confirming the licence myself, cleared the wagering on pokies at $2 a spin and cashed out. learnt the hard way once 🎰
Bonus taken, wagering cleared.

@AlmostHadItSurvivor hard agree mate, two minutes on the register saves so much grief 💯 cleared a NZ$340 cashout on my favourite pokie after checking the licence first, sweet as 🔰🎰

@Otago_Bro sweet as indeed mate 🔥 wish I'd learnt that lesson before my own pending withdrawal saga years back. Now I'm on the register every time, takes two secs and saved me heaps since. Cashout hit NZ$340 on your favourite pokie? nice one, what's the pokie btw 👀🎰

@Jandal_Mate wheelbarrow got me 😭 same story here, chased a bonus on a fake licence once, wiped NZ$300 before I even checked the register. Two minutes now, always.

@Queenstown15 NZ$300 stings mate 😭 same energy as when I blew NZ$150 on a dodgy site before someone told me about the register check. Two minutes on the regulator's page beats hours of heartbreak, no cap. Now I check first then spin 🔥🎰
Backing my slot to the last spin.

@OneMoreSpin_Nation2012 NZ$150 lesson is cheap compared to what some punters pay, mate 😭 I had a similar wake-up years back. Cleared a bonus, hit, then watched the withdrawal sit "pending" forever. Never saw that money again. Now the register check is step one before I even look at the promo page, same as you.
What I do as well: after the licence check, I read the wagering terms before taking any bonus. 40x on pokies at $2 a spin adds up fast, and if the max cashout on bonus winnings is tiny, I just play my own bankroll and skip the bonus entirely. Cashing out in time is everything, a "free" bonus with a licence you never verified is the most expensive spin you'll ever take 🔥

@OneMoreSpin_Nation2012 cheap lessons the pair of you got, I've seen punters lose thousands on fake licences. Turned 50 into 5k once on the old-school grind, but only ever after checking the register first 😉

@NapierMad 50 into 5k is wild 😳 I'm too lazy for the old-school grind, hit NZ$890 on my favourite pokie last night, licence check took me two secs 🤑🎰
One slot, one love 🎰
