Finally made the trip to Captain Casino and my wallet is still crying
Went to Captain Casino last Friday arvo too and the pokies floor was absolutely packed, could barely get near my favourite machine π
The cage queue was the worst part though, felt like forever. Do they ever sort out a faster payout line on weekends or is that just how it is? Total noob question maybe but keen to hear how others handle it π
Learning to clear wagering, go easy π
Friday night at a land venue you accept the cage queue as part of the tax, worst thing you can do is sit on a win waiting in it and talk yourself into spinning it back π Froze my session the second I banked anything decent, walked straight to the queue, whatever that line costs me in time I treat it as the cashout fee. Floor was buzzing when I went too, couldn't get a seat anywhere.
Cashing out in time is half the battle.

That trick of walking straight to the cage with your win is actually decent, might have to steal that next time π
I just stand there eyeing the pokies while waiting and yeah, it never ends well. Does freezing the session like that work for you every time? Total noob here, still working out my own discipline π¬
Freezing the session works because most blokes can't hold a win without feeding half of it back while they queue, that's the whole trick. I'd go one further and leave the cash on the cage counter before you even start eyeballing the pokies. Any win you can't show me a payout for is just noise anyway, long-run it's still minus, Friday arvo or not.
RTP doesn't lie, win screenshots do.
Cash on the counter before queueing, agreed. I get my ticket in hand and pocket it, phone away too. Last Friday the cage had two windows open for half the floor π
Bankroll discipline wins πΈ
Learned this the hard way Friday, queued with a hit in my pocket, gave most of it back before the cage even called my number. Cash on the counter, done. π

Bonus taken, wagering cleared.
JoshLuck1984's story is exactly why I never hold a win on the floor. Ticket in hand, straight to the cage, and I want to see the cash before I believe it. Two windows for a packed Friday is taking the mickey though.
Cashout screenshot or it didn't happen.
Two windows open and a packed floor is just the house daring you to re-spin it π I do ticket straight in my pocket, hand off the machine, then queue. Lost a decent hit that way once, never again.
@Win24 cash in hand before anything else, 100%. Held a NZ$1200 ticket once and re-spun it back to crumbs, never again π Two windows on a Friday is rough though.
The hit is close, I can feel it.

Win24's right, cash before you believe it, learned that one the hard way myself. Though that Friday queue was chocka, half the floor was just waiting on the cage π
Those who know, know.
Haha the cage queue nearly munted my Friday too, hit big last night style buzz killed by standing there watching the reels tempt me π
Mate of mine just takes the ticket home now and comes back Saturday, zero temptation. Anyone tried the e-ticket payouts instead or is that just as slow over there? ah well π°π°
Spinning reels dawn to dusk.

@Auckland_Legend tried the e-ticket payout there once, was sweet as honestly, money straight in and no queue π₯ way better than staring at the reels holding a ticket π
One slot, one love π°

@Auckland_Legend total noob here but the e-ticket sounds mint, might try that next trip π
I did the holding-the-ticket thing once and yeah, the reels whisper at you the whole time π€£ Taking it home and coming back Saturday seems like the safest move hard out. Does the e-ticket go straight to your bank or do you still need to front up at the cage?
Learning to clear wagering, go easy π
@JoshGold cashed straight up, nice one mate, enjoy it while the account's warm π a win on paper right up until you hit the cage though. Half the blokes in this thread never made that walk. The reels whispering is the house doing its job π
The house always wins.
@SlotQueenWins spot on, a win is just a number till you're holding the ticket over the counter. I've lost count of the times I've sat on a decent hit telling myself one more spin, then cashed out half of it π discipline for me is simple now, get up the second the reels give me anything over my session budget, walk straight to the cage πΈ
Cashing out in time is half the battle.
Held a ticket once myself and talked myself into "one more hundred", re-spun the lot back before I even got to the cage π so yeah, e-ticket every time now. Cashing out in time is everything, and the floor knows it, those machines get real chatty the moment you've got a decent amount in your hand πΈ
The discipline bit nobody mentions: decide your cashout number BEFORE you sit down. Mine's simple β double the buy-in and the ticket goes straight in, no negotiating with myself at 11pm. Walked out of Captain's twice this year doing exactly that, small wins but they're banked. Josh's right about it being a solid venue though, the cage staff there have never given me grief on a payout. π₯

@Queenstown noob or not you've got the right idea mate, ticket in the pocket beats ticket in the machine every time. That whispering is no accident either, they tune those cabinets to keep you seated π
Word is Saturday arvos on that floor run warm, take that how you like. My contact at the club reckons the same crowd keeps circling the same bank of pokies all night, so maybe watch where the regulars park themselves π€«

@NearMiss_Merchant74 that "one more hundred" trap is brutal mate, been there myself. Last month I held a ticket at NZ$380, told myself the reels were still warm and walked out with NZ$60 π€¦ my own fault though, the machine doesn't know you're up. Cash the ticket the second it feels good lol π₯π°
One slot, one love π°
Word is that floor runs warmer Saturday afternoons than most realise, you know the rest ππ€« Cage first though, my mate left NZ$400 whispering at him once.
