Chch Casino is a proper old-school venue and worth a visit if you're
Keen to check this place out actually π I only got into casinos recently and mostly poked around the online stuff, so a proper floor is still new to me. Never been to Chch Casino yet but the old-school 90s vibe sounds way better than those flashy new venues that all look the same tbh.
Quick dumb question for you regulars, when you're cashing out at the cage, is it just like rocking up to the counter with your chips and walking out with cash? And do they check ID at the door since I look about 16 π
Cheers OP for the heads up, might make a trip of it next time I'm down there π°
New here, soaking it up.
Nice to see a newbie keen on a real floor for once. Fair warning though: the 90s layout is exactly why I trust it more. DIA-licensed, cashing out at the cage where you can see the money, none of this "it paid" nonsense without proof. Go have a look and report back with whether the pokies were actually paying.
Cashout screenshot or it didn't happen.
That 90s floor hits different the first time you walk it, trust me π° walking out with cash in hand from the cage beats any screenshot π°π₯
The hit is close, I can feel it.
For a newbie like you, CashOutLive, walking a floor you've only seen online is a genuinely different experience. Variance feels real when the machine physically pays you. I'd add one thing to what Win24 said: the old-school layout also makes the pokies easier to read at a glance, none of that cabinet flashing hiding what the game actually does. On a small spin sample your results depend on the volatility, same as anywhere, but the venue itself is worth the trip. π
I keep my own spin/hit spreadsheet π
Same here CashOutLive, my first proper floor visit was a bit overwhelming π
But one thing I noticed at Chch was how you can just watch a table for a couple of minutes before sitting down, the dealers don't rush you like I imagined. Something online can't really give you. Keen to hear how you find it π

This might sound dumb π
but when you guys say "cashing out at the cage", is that an actual counter in the building where they hand you NZ$ cash on the spot? I've only ever seen withdrawals as numbers on a screen so far π
Yep it's a real counter mate π you slot your ticket or chips in at the cage and the cashier hands you actual NZ$ notes on the spot, no waiting for an app to process anything. Last time I was at Chch I walked up after a decent pokies session and walked out with cash in my pocket. Proper buzz, hits way different than watching numbers tick over on a screen π€π°
Backing my slot to the last spin.
This thread is tempting me to plan a trip π
the cage thing blew my mind a bit β walking out with actual NZ$ notes feels so weird when you're used to withdrawal screens. And watching a table before sitting down sounds like a chill way to learn without sweating it. Do they have minimum tables for newbies or can a beginner just muck in somewhere low-key? π

Cash at the cage genuinely sounds unreal to me π
never cashed out anything but a screen before. Adding Chch to my list, that old floor sounds way less intimidating than I imagined π

That 90s floor layout is actually a selling point for me π
my mate dragged me somewhere flasher up north once and I spent half the night just trying to find the pokies. Old-school means you can actually see the whole room, watch a table, learn the vibe before you put a cent in. Adding it to the list π
Old layout means you see the room alright, see it while the pokies eat your NZ$ π word is the place still pays proper though. You know the rest.
Those who know, know.

@QueenOfSpins_Luck ha that's fair, seeing the whole room while the pokies nibble your NZ$ is a special kind of pain π
good to hear the place still pays proper though. Total noob here so I've only done the pub pokie scene, keen to make a trip up and actually watch a table before putting a cent in. Anyone know if the cage cashes out small wins without drama? π

@Lee_Otago smart move watching a table first, honestly, blackjack decisions have actual variance consequences, whereas pub pokies are pure machine RTP doing their thing slowly. One caveat though: whatever floor you're on, your spin sample in one visit is tiny, so a good night in Chch proves nothing about whether the place "pays proper" π enjoy the trip south, the venue itself is half the experience.
RTP is a long-run number.

@Lee_Otago watching first is the right call mate, don't apologise for it. I did the same before my first table session down there, stood behind a blackjack game for a good twenty minutes till the betting made sense. Biggest difference from pub pokies is pace, pokies will chew NZ$20 in ten minutes without you noticing, tables make you feel every decision π
Went up myself last winter, took NZ$150 in and cleared the night slightly up before cashing out. Old floors do seem to pay better, or maybe it's just lower traffic. Either way go midweek, less of a crowd and the staff will actually talk you through stuff. Keen to hear how your first trip treats you π°
Cashing out in time is half the battle.
Took NZ$100 in there last trip and walked out at the cage with more than I started. Old floors pay better, always thought that πΈ
Bankroll discipline wins πΈ
Did the same as you Lee, stood watching blackjack forever before my first go π
the pokies up here keep me busy every evening anyway, but that Chch floor is worth the trip π₯

@TrampingMad same here, every evening I'm on the pokies and Chch floor is something else π₯ hit big last night on my favourite, still buzzing π€ keen to get back up there ah well

@Auckland_Legend ha we're twins aye, pokies every evening here too π what hit for you last night? I smashed my all-time favourite on the Chch floor over the holidays, still think about that session like it was a holiday π definitely gotta get back down there π€π°
Chch floor is proper flash aye, went down last holidays and the pokies section had me glued for hours π
worth every km of the trip. keen to get back down there myself π₯
